Tom Jennings, Ph.D.
Tom Jennings became vice president for university advancement at Florida State University and president of the FSU Foundation in September 2010. In this role, Mr. Jennings leads the university’s fundraising and alumni relations activities, overseeing and partnering with the FSU Alumni Association, FSU Foundation, FSU Real Estate Foundation and the Seminole Boosters. Mr. Jennings also oversees the comprehensive fundraising campaign Raise the Torch, with a $1B goal. Prior to coming to FSU, Mr. Jennings served as assistant vice president for school programs and institutional priorities at the University of Virginia. During more than eight years with UVA, Mr. Jennings served as associate dean for development in the College and Graduate School of Arts & Sciences, where he led the strategic planning and implementation of a $500 million comprehensive campaign. Before that, he worked in fundraising roles for ten years at Washington & Lee University in Lexington, Virginia, serving ultimately as director of university development. Mr. Jennings is a respected leader within the Council for Advancement and Support of Education (CASE), delivering numerous presentations at CASE conferences and serving as co-chair for the CASE District III annual conference in 2012. He also served on the CASE District III Board of Directors and led its Legislative Advocacy Committee from 2013-15. A native of Delaware, Mr. Jennings earned his bachelor’s and master’s degree in psychology from James Madison University in Virginia, and his Ph.D. in higher education administration from the University of Virginia.
