Past President Job Description


  • One year


  • 1-3 hours per month
  • Seminole Club board meetings (monthly/quarterly/as scheduled)
  • Applicable committee meetings attendance (as needed)

Position Requirements:

  • Current member of either the FSU Alumni Association or Seminole Boosters

Preferred Skills and Experience:

  • Completion of 1-2 year term as president
  • Strong communication skills
  • Project management/organization

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Smooth transition of Presidency
    • Oversee the transition of leadership of Seminole Club board
      • Communications: Provide password and establish date for transition of group's e-mail address to new president and inform board members and Alumni Association of your new preferred e-mail address
      • Finances: Work with treasurer/administrator and incoming president to ensure the group's bank account has an updated signature card
      • General: Complete transition checklist
        • Schedule meeting with incoming president
        • Provide him or her with any records (e.g., officers' notebook) kept during your term
        • Update him or her on the status of any ongoing projects
        • Share candid feedback on your presidency and offer recommendations as appropriate and establish now what your role will be during meetings and events over the coming year
  2. Act as resource for president and other new volunteers on the board
  3. Support Seminole Club events and programs throughout the year
