Scholarship Chair


  • Suggested—1-2 year(s), otherwise determined by individual Seminole Club bylaws.


  • 1-2 hours per month, with greater time commitment in the spring
  • Seminole Club board meetings (monthly/quarterly/as scheduled)
  • Scholarship committee meetings (spring)
  • Communication with FSU Alumni Association staff
  • Respond to inquiries about scholarship program

Position Requirements:

  • Current member of the FSU Alumni Association or Seminole Boosters
  • May not have a child or relative in consideration for a scholarship

Preferred Skills and Experience:

  • Interest in higher education and scholarship support
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and practice impartiality
  • Interpersonal skills

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Scholarship Chair
    • Oversee the selection of scholarship winners based on gift agreements (endowed scholarships) or on application requirements
    • Work closely with club treasurer to ensure sufficient funds are available
    • Provide FSU Alumni Association with up to date scholarship information, applications, and information of scholarship winners
    • Present or delegate appointee to present scholarship at recipient's high school awards program
    • Work with communications committee to publicize current recipients of scholarship(s) on website and in group's e-communications
  2. Act as liaison between committee, board and alumni scholarship coordinator, reporting activity and feedback
  3. Support Seminole Club events and programs throughout the year
