Cesar Mize (B.S. ’13)
Cesar Mize’s career in the U.S. Navy has been marked by his exceptional skill and dedication. After graduating from FSU’s Mechanical Engineering program, Mize attended Officer Candidate School Newport, Rhode Island, where he was commissioned as a U.S. naval officer in August 2013. Due to his technical background and attention to detail, he was appointed as the communications officer assigned to the guided missile cruiser USS Gettysburg (CG-64). During his tenure, Mize led the Gettysburg to an unprecedented communication circuit reliability of 98%, and as a result was awarded the Navy’s 2014 Unit Tactics Award. Mize’s service has also included roles as deputy public affairs officer, Spanish translator to foreign diplomats and outstanding performance in operations in the Persian Gulf and the Atlantic. As further proof of his accomplishments, Mize is currently the only officer in the U.S. Navy to be handpicked to serve on the fleet commander’s staff as a young ensign.
