Ernie Garateix headshot

Ernie Garateix (B.S. ’94)

Read Bio

Ernie Garateix has served as the CEO of Heritage Insurance since 2020. He previously held roles as chief operating officer (2014 -2020) and executive vice president (2012-2014). He has more than 20 years of experience in the insurance industry, with expertise in claims, underwriting, operations and information technology.

Garateix began his career at United States Fidelity and Guaranty Co., where he held various positions in the claims department and managed the call center. He earned an MBA in management information technology from the University of Tampa. He later served as associate vice president of information technology at FCCI Insurance Group in Sarasota, Florida (2000- 2007). Before joining Heritage, Garateix was vice president of operations at American Integrity Insurance Group, where he oversaw all back-office operations. He holds the Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter (CPCU®) designation.

Alex Holian is area vice president at Gallagher, where she helps employers design strategic, people-first employee benefits programs that support engagement, retention and performance. She earned a Bachelor of Science in risk management and insurance from Florida State University in 2020.

Holian is co-founder and past president of the Ladies Executive Golf Society Tampa Bay and serves as director of marketing for HR Tampa. She also sits on the board of the Seminole Club of Tampa Bay and previously led fund development for Girls Inc. of Pinellas. A committed community leader, she advocates for mentorship, inclusion and the advancement of women in business.

Scott Price is the founder and CEO of A-LIGN, a global cybersecurity and compliance firm. Since launching the company in 2009, he has led its growth from a Florida-based startup to a tech-enabled industry leader. With more than 20 years of experience and multiple professional designations, Price has guided A-LIGN through major investments from FTV Capital and Warburg Pincus. He champions a balanced approach to compliance: people plus technology equals success.

Katie Turner is an assistant state attorney in Florida’s Sixth Judicial Circuit. She earned a bachelor’s degree in criminology from Florida State University, where she was active in Alpha Delta Pi, Seminole Ambassadors, Garnet and Gold Key and intramural sports. She received the inaugural Bob L. Leach Award for Outstanding Compassionate Leadership in 1990.

Turner earned her law degree from Samford University and began her legal career as an assistant state attorney. After a hiatus to raise her family and engage in philanthropic work, she returned to public service in her current role. A proud member of a multigenerational FSU family, she lives in Tampa with her husband and three sons.
